Power Cross Ministries celebrated it’s 15-year anniversary just following the ground-breaking on their Tempo Turf Artificial Turf Football Field, by UDC Sports.
Serving over 300 families in Statesville and Salisbury, North Carolina, an all-weather playing surface for Power Cross’s youth football program had been the dream of Founders Jeff and Natalie Storment since 2007.
A 75,000 square foot rubber/sand infilled artificial turf field was designed and constructed by UDC Sports, along with several site amenities.
Clearing the site began in September of 2021, with 0.75 acres of hardwoods removed, and bulk grading of over 20,000 cubic yards of native soil.
Tempo Turf LS-42225 Infilled artificial turf system with ReFill crumb rubber/sand infill was installed with End-Zone lettering, Center logo, Sideline Logos, and inlayed markings conforming to NFHS and NCHSAA standards.

Bulk grading of

After removing 0.75 acres of hardwoods, the UDC Sports team performed the bulk grading of over 20,000 cubic yards of native soil.
Drainage
Field drainage system improvements included the relocation of 250’ of sewer line, reshaping of a 400’ drainage swale including installation of drain inlets, a concrete pipe culvert, 120’ of underground stormwater pipe to connect to the neighborhood system, and over 1500 linear feet of pipe was installed with several inlets.

The design experts at UDC Sports chose a next generation infilled artificial turf system utilizing Tempo Turf LS-42225 and ReFill (crumb rubber/sand infill) to create this 75,000 square foot football field.
Field Amenities
A 180-foot long retaining wall was designed and constructed off the SE corner of the field, goal posts were installed, the access ramp was covered in Tempo Turf LT-60125 artificial landscape turf, trees and shrubs were planted on the perimeter of the property, and a concrete sidewalk was installed for access to the top of the Southern slope on the Home side of the field.
