UDC Sports is very proud to announce the completion of Power Cross Ministries’ new Tempo Turf synthetic turf football field.
The brand new sports field will provide the youth football team at Power Cross Ministries with much needed space to practice, and a state-of-the-art, all-weather artificial turf playing surface for home games.
Power Cross Ministries serves over 300 families in the Statesville and Salisbury, NC area. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, dozens of boys eagerly raced onto the new turf field.
UDC Sports is proud to have been selected by Power Cross for this ambitious project, which began in September 2021 with the removal of 0.75 acres of hardwoods and bulk grading of over 20,000 cubic yards of native soil.
Additionally, UDC handled relocation of 250’ of sewer line, and the reshaping of a 400’ drainage swale for the new field’s drainage system—as well as the installation of drain inlets, a concrete pipe culvert, and 120’ of underground stormwater pipe to connect to the local water system.
In all, UDC installed over 1500’ linear feet of pipe at the site.
All turf and infill materials used in the project were supplied by ReTURF. The artificial turf used for the playing surface was Tempo Turf LS-42225.
The infill product used was ReTURF’s ReFill S-75, a reclaimed turf infill made of a mixture of crumb rubber and sand.
The new field was installed with goal posts, end-zone lettering, a center logo, sideline logos, and inlaid markings conforming to NFHS and NCHSAA standards.
UDC also handled the design and construction of several site amenities, including a 180ft long retaining wall, a sidewalk, and an access ramp covered in Tempo Turf LT-60125 artificial landscape turf.
In addition, trees and shrubs were planted along the perimeter of the property.
The investment in the new synthetic turf field is already paying off for Power Cross—just since the completion of their new football field, 18 new boys have signed up for the ministry.
The selection of an artificial turf field will also yield significant cost savings over regular grass field maintenance and irrigation costs, and will provide the benefit of safe, all-weather, year-round use which will benefit Power Cross Ministries’ youth programs for years to come.
